Montreal's arson squad is investigating an early morning fire that ripped through a newly-opened restaurant on the Main just north of Fairmount Tuesday morning.

Firefighters rushed to the scene at the Sel Gras restaurant 5245 St. Laurent at about 4 a.m. to quell the flames but not before the structure sustained about $50,000 in damages.

Nobody was hurt in the fire and investigators are attempting to determine what caused the blaze, which started in the restaurant on the first floor of the buiding.
