MONTREAL - Financial advisor Carole Morinville, who has worked for a number of Quebec entertainers, has been arrested as part of a joint Surete du Quebec / Quebec Financial Authority (AMF) investigation.

A warrant for her arrest was executed Tuesday morning at her Verdun home following a Ponzi scheme complaint made to the AMF earlier this year.

The SQ was brought in on the investigation on October 27, 2010.

Neither body will actually confirm that Morinville was arrested until charges are laid, and Morinville is not expected to appear in court until Wednesday.

Sylvain Thiberge of the AMF would confirm that up to 60 victims have accused a person of financial misdealings, and that anywhere from $1.5 million to $3.4 million has gone missing.

Quebec actress Karine Vanasse, who won a Genie award for her performance in Polytechnique, is one of Morinville's alleged victims.

Vanasse has filed a complaint with the AMF alleging that Morinville appropriated profits from the sale of a condominium.
