The trial of Luka Magnotta is approaching the end, with the final defence witnesses taking the stand on Thursday.
One of the final defence witnesses was Dr. Joel Watts, a psychiatrist, hired to build the case that Magnotta is has schizophrenia and was having a psychotic episode when he killed Jun Lin in 2012.
However following Watts' cross-examination, the jury had several questions which they submitted to the judge.
He reviewed them and posed them to Watts on their behalf.
The first thing the jury wanted to know was if the fact that Magnotta consumed a sleeping pill, along with Benadryl and alcohol, would have affected his psychosis.
The doctor said that is not likely.
The second question concerned Magnotta being hospitalized at an earlier date, and the jury wanted to know if that was due in part to Magnotta not taking his medication.
Watts said that was more than likely.
During his testimony Watts said he believed Magnotta had a selective memory, and there were certain things he had done which he did not wish to remember.
The jury wanted to know if that meant Magnotta was lying in his testimony, and Watts said he believed that Magnotta was telling the truth.
The trial will resume on Monday with the Crown presenting rebuttal witnesses to re-establish its assertion that Magnotta carefully planned the murder of Jun Lin.
