The family of the only survivor of a collapsed balcony accident in Lachine two weeks ago is hoping for some help as the expenses to remain by his side continue to mount.

On Dec. 7, Allan Nabinacaboo and two other friends were on his balcony, when the railing gave way. The men fell three storeys, killing Nabinacaboo’s friends and leaving him severely injured.

, Nabinacaboo was supposed start courses at a recording arts school in Montreal. He is now in a drug-induced coma.



Nabinacaboo’s family comes from Kawawachikamach, a northern community north of Sept-Iles. They flew in to be with him. The expenses to remain in Montreal are mounting as they prepare for a long road to recovery.

“They said it could be anywhere from six months to two years,” said his father, Gilles Corbeil. “The said that everybody goes through the same thing, through such a trauma but that the brain is trying to function right and trying to remember things, but that it’s going to take quite a while before it does. This is why all the family is here.”



The family has started a fundraising campaign
, and wants find an apartment closer to the hospital for his girlfriend, mother and two children.

“I'm hoping for the best for Allan, that he wakes up so he knows that everybody came here to be with him,” said Corbeil.
