A convicted murderer who walked away from a minimum-security prison on Sunday has been recaptured.

Gilles Meloche is one of two prisoners who recently escaped from the Montee St-Francois facility.

He was found Wednesday and returned to prison, although officials will not say where he was found.

Philippe Pelletier disappeared from the prison last Thursday and is still at large. He is supposed to be serving a sentence for weapons possession and robbery.

A third man, Alex Michaud-Robitaille, escaped from the nearby Ste-Anne-des-Plaines minimum security prison on Sept. 29 and was recaptured on Oct. 4.

Prisoners at minimum-security facilities are often allowed to leave prison grounds without supervision during the day, often to go to work.

Corrections Canada says it will re-examine security procedures in the wake of these recent escapes.
