One man is dead and three people were badly hurt after a head-on collision in Mirabel.
At 10 p.m. Tuesday night two cars smashed into each other while on Chemin Saint-Simon near Autoroute 50.
So far police do not know why one car veered into the other lane, and are not certain which car went over the centre line.
One car was carrying a 42-year-old man, his 14-year-old son, and a 13-year-old.
One man, aged 32, was in the other car.
Both cars were so damaged by the crash that emergency crews had to use the jaws of life to pry everyone from the mangled wreckage.
Once free everyone was taken to St. Jerome hospital, where the 42-year-old man died of his injuries.
The two teenagers and the other driver are all in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
The road was closed until 5 a.m. while police inspected the scene and the wreckage was cleaned up.
Meanwhile an 18-wheeler crashed Wednesday morning on Highway 20 near the exit for the 20 West.
The truck rolled over and into a ditch for reasons that are not known.
The driver was not hurt.
Because the wreck did not interfere with traffic, it will only be cleaned up during the day.
