Construction crews working on the Turcot Interchange have unearthed the remains of another archeological site in the area formerly known as Tannery Village.

The crews were digging east of the Glen superhospital, at the intersection of St. Jacques Blvd. and De Courcelles Rd.

Officials were tight-lipped, but said the find was made on the northwest corner, adjacent to Cycle Neron and facing Home Depot.

The largest archeological find was made last year about 200 m away, near the intersection of Cazelais St. and St. Remi St., when crews found part of an 18th Century tannery.

Archeologists spent the summer of 2015 excavating the site and removing objects of historical interest.

They determined that there was no way to preserve the foundation of the old buildings because they would rot if exposed to air.

Once their work was done, construction crews demolished the ruins in September.

About 15 archeologists have been working with construction crews as the Turcot Interchange is rebuilt, and as of September 2015 had collected 150 boxes of artifacts that were being kept at the Maison St. Gabriel museum in Point St. Charles.
