A Cote des Neiges woman wants to know why police haven’t arrested a man who she says assaulted her.

The woman, who is in her 70s, was walking down the street in the Van Horne Ave. area four weeks ago when she says a man passed her and punched her in her face.

“He punched me full force in the face … I fell to the ground. In a state of shock, I took my cell phone and called the police,” she said.

The woman, who does not want to be identified, said she almost passed out from the pain. The attack left her with cuts on her face, a bump the size of a golf ball on her head and a black eye. She needed stitches on her elbow as well.

She says the man is someone who has had run-ins with other people in the area before.

Following the assault, the police showed her a book of mugshots and she picked the man out immediately.

Police told her he's in the system and that they knew where he was, but when they went to his home, he wasn't there. That was almost a month ago and they still haven't found him.

Police say they have been looking for the man and there is an arrest warrant out for him. They will likely release his picture tomorrow.

In the meantime, the victim says she doesn’t leave her house without her screamer alarm.
