Former Montreal mayor Jean Doré will be laid to rest on Monday June 22, 2015 in a unique locale: Montreal city hall.

Doré's body will lie in state at City Hall for two days before the funeral.

The visitation to be held Saturday will be reserved for dignitaries and for Doré's family, while the general public is invited to attend a visitation on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Montreal's police force has agreed to not wear camouflage pants during the funeral service, although they will likely be wearing red baseball caps. Members of the force were criticized for being out of uniform during the funeral for former Premier Jacques Parizeau.

Doré learned last August that he had terminal cancer, and he died on Monday.

He was mayor of Montreal from 1986 until 1994, following the 26-year period when Jean Drapeau was mayor of the city.

He is survived by his wife, Christiane Sauvé, and his children Amelie and Magalie.
