MONTREAL -- Canada's Vasek Pospisil is moving on to the semifinals at the Rogers Cup.

He advanced when Russia's Nikolay Davydenko retired in the first set with an injury.

Pospisil won the first three games before his opponent informed the chair umpire he could not continue.

The Vernon, B.C., native will play the winner of the afternoon quarter-final between Milos Raonic of Thornhill, Ont., and Latvia's Ernests Gulbis.

There was no immediate word on Davydenko's injury.

The semifinals are scheduled for Saturday.
