Wilde Horses
-David Desharnais. Big jump in his game. Creative mind. Has learned how to win a lot of puck battles for a guy with his size. Kind of remarkable really.
- Jiri Sekac. Had his family and his girlfriend come in for the home opener and he played inspired hockey. Fully deserved his first NHL goal as he floated into the dead zone and slid it home.
Jiri Sekac's dad celebrates his goal and it's amazing
- PA Parenteau. That's what he has to do. Be ready for the one timer and snipe it quickly. Parenteau was brought to Montreal for that moment.
- Max Pacioretty. Really has turned into a complete player. So little wrong with his game. Like his PK work and the respect the opponent better have for the counter attack. Has become such a student of the game. Oh and his goal was once again in the dirty zone tight to the net where players get whacked. Pacioretty being where he has to be.
- Alex Galchenyuk. Quiet night but the one zone entry was so amazing all by itself. Galchenyuk should get power play time so he can back D off to win the zone. Habs don't have enough guys who do that well.
- Lars Eller. If everyone would stop thinking he is the offensive catalyst and realize he is an excellent shut down centre, so much of the criticism surrounding him would fall away. He is a big-time puck winner. He neutralizes big bodies. He wins zone time. Those are classic shut down C qualities.
- Brendan Gallagher. Around the goal. Finishes whether it is pretty or just hits him. Same Gallagher as always.
Wilde Goats
- The defence. No need to point anyone out individually. Really all of them. And all of the forwards too for lack of D support. The quality of shot Price is facing is very high. Higher than should be asked. Bruins were around the goal all night. Too much freedom to roam. Habs are going to need to be better. They got away with it against the Bruins but long run it looks like an issue, though they certainly were tighter in the third.
Wilde Cards
- Embellishment to Subban for getting nut sacked is just stupid. Has the ref Graham Skilliter ever been hit in the sack? Graham, IT REALLY REALLY HURTS! Thought that was a horrible call.
- Smart from the Habs who after last year giving the torch first for some crazy reason to Daniel Briere, they smartened up, avoiding any controversy which by giving it to the de facto captain of the Habs Carey Price. One goalie to another made sense too as Ken Dryden passed to Price. Well done Habs. You nearly always hit the mark on ceremonies.
