Wilde Horses
- Tomas Plekanec. Give this guy some line mates for a change and see what he can do. Plekanec gets the tying goal. He wins so many puck battles. He faces the best players. He makes one smart decision after another.
He is so underrated around this league that I actually use Plekanec as a marker to learn if a MSM member actually watches the games.
If Reporter A says Plekanec isn't excellent, then I know he doesn't really watch the games.
- Dustin Tokarski. Wow did the management make the right back up goalie call. There is no way the Budaj that tended goal the last half of last season steals one point, nor 2.
Tokarski needs to stay challenging a bit longer when the player slows down to a crawl in the shootout, but other than that, that's a whole lot of wow for a backup goalie.
- Lars Eller had a strong game. His positional play defensively is excellent. A great set up on the goal that didn't count. He wins pucks. He protects pucks.
He isn't set up on the Habs to have big numbers with no power play time, but he is doing many things right to make sure he stops the other team's guys from succeeding.
- Manny Malhotra. Key faceoff wins all the time.
What a big signing this is for Bergevin. To know that the Habs aren't going to be facing a point shot after the draw late in the game is a huge plus.
- Alex Galchenyuk. Made Niskanen look like a plumber once. Wins pucks at a much higher occurrence. Set up the big goal. Scored a dangler in the shootout.
So much good from this 20 year old. Also if he can implicate himself that much on the wing then what's the hurry to go to centre.
- Nathan Beaulieu. Love his first pass. Just so impressive. Finds the man so easily. Sees the game and has instincts so good. Can't say enough about him. Hell of a player.
Massive future. Absolutely convinced he's the long-running partner for Subban soon.
- Mike Weaver quietly a good night. A lot of ice time in overtime and he succeeded. So smart a player.
- Rene Bourque. Didn't count anything but the post sure looked like a goal and was a heck of a shot.
The goal called back, he was also doing what he is supposed to.
Wilde Goats
- Not really feeling it here to point at a goat. The Habs have a perfect four points and they had to get the four on the road.
They also had to face a waiting Caps team rested and hungry.
They had to find their legs after a long travel overnight with customs an issue also.
They had a terrible first period but kept competing.
No need for a goat. Mission accomplished.
Wilde Cards
- Is it me or is it a must that a Chris Lee game has to be one always with a weird or controversial moment?
Bourque gets one called back on what seemed like a black hole delay from the refs and then Lee stops play for a puck shot at goal that didn't go in.
- Brooks Orpik is a menace to hockey.
He almost ruined Erik Cole's life yet he plays with the same head hunter mentality through the years no matter what.
Orpik is a predator. He only seems to look to lay out a hit when the opponent has somehow already become vulnerable.
I don't like this player. I don't say that often.
I don't like this player.
Can see why so many NHLers want to destroy him.
- Travis Moen. The beating that Kevin Millar put on Moen in Boston has changed this player like it did Bourque when he was felled by Colton Orr.
Moen was 22 days facing deep brain injury symptom, the kind of symptoms that scare a man.
He has fear to get involved now I believe.
For me, he should have fear.
I don't care one bit if you don't like that he isn't pulling his weight and fighting.
To me, he better not fight.
He better not risk his life.
He better play it safe.
You worry about your wins. I will worry about his health.
I desperately don't want this fine man in the dark again.
