About 500 Bloc Quebecois members are wrapping up a weekend conference in Rimouski which saw them get a view of leadership candidates Mario Beaulieu and Andre Bellavance.
Beaulieu, the head of the St. Jean Baptiste Society of Montreal, squared off in a debate with the Bloc MP from Richmond-Arthabaska Saturday afternoon, one of the more memorable moments from the conference.
Members discussed and voted on nearly 400 proposals but none of them are considered great departures for the federal party dedicated to Quebec sovereignty.
The Bloc adopted a new revenue-sharing policy which will see the wealthier ridings give money to the less-well endowed, in the aims of winning more seats in the 2015 federal election, which is about 18 months away.
The party, which currently has four sitting MPs, will choose a new leader on June 15.
