MONTREAL - A 55-year-old woman is dead following a dispute with her brother, while her 79-year-old mother is listed in stable condition after the man allegedly stabbed them both in a family dispute in Cartierville Saturday morning.
The incident began when an argument between a brother and sister degenerated into violence which saw the 51-year-old man allegedly stab his sister in the upper body inside a fifth-floor apartment on Acadie near Marcelin Wilson just before 10 a.m.
Their mother then attempted to intervene in the dispute, leading the suspect to allegedly stab her as well.
The mother and daughter were brought to hospital for medical intervention but late Saturday evening police announced that the daughter had died from her injuries, making her the 25th Montreal homicide victim of 2013.
Police have the suspect in custody are expected to reveal what charges will be laid against him on Monday, according to Montreal police representative Simon Delorme.
