A teenager has been released from hospital after he was shot in the West Island Monday afternoon.

Montreal police say the teen was with a group of friends in a wooded area at the corner of 5th Ave. North and Gouin Blvd. in Roxboro at 1:10 p.m. when the incident occurred.

Police say he was with four friends when another person showed up. At some points a shot was fired, and the teen was hit in the leg.

He was transported to hospital where he was treated before being released Monday evening.

The victim as well as the group he was with have been questioned by police, but are not cooperating.

Police are looking for the weapon in addition to the shooter.

“We did some searches from door-to-door to get some fresh information that can help us understand really what went on, but it appears the suspect was known to the victim, and maybe targeted, so we’re not talking about something out of the blue,” said Const. Andre Leclerc.

No arrests have been made.
