Marjolène Morin, 61 – better known as the Quebec singer-songwriter Marjo – could faces charges of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident in Laval on Christmas Day.

The SQ provincial police confirmed details of an incident but would not confirm whether Marjo was the individual arrested for the DUI and hit-and-run.

SQ representative Melanie Dumaresq said that a driver collided with another vehicle on Highway 15 north, around 3:15 p.m. on 25 December.

Following the impact, the offending vehicle continued driving and was stopped a few minutes later by police.

Dumaresq said that the driver, aged in her sixties, was taken to a police station to be submitted to a breath test, which she failed. She was released after receiving a subpoena to appear in court.

Marjo attained fame in the late 1970s singing for the rock group Corbeau and went on to win a Genie Award and a Felix award and remains considered a major star in Quebec.
