Unions representing two-thirds of the paramedics in Quebec are supporting a strike.

The Health and Social Services division of the CSN is holding consultations on a strike mandate until Nov. 25.

So far every union local that has been asked has agreed to a strike mandate, although no date has been set for a walkout.

Paramedics are considered an essential service, and as such their strike activity is severely limited.

Paramedics are in the midst of negotiations with the Quebec Ambulance Service Corporation and with Urgences Santé.

Issues include wages, retirement, workload, and health issues.
