A man once affiliated with the Rockers and later the Nomads motorcycle gangs was the victim of a shooting Monday morning in Outremont, sources say.
A man walked into Plomberie Galarneau & Frere at 1184 Van Horne Ave. near Bloomfield Ave. at 8:30 a.m. Monday and opened fire on an employee.
The suspect then ran off.
The victim is Bruno Lefebvre, 43, a man once connected to gangs affiliated with the Hells Angels, a source tells CTV Montreal.
He remains in hospital in critical but stable condition.
“When police officers got on the scene they indeed found a victim a man, 43 years old, who was shot at least once in the upper body,” said Const. Daniel Lacoursiere.
Police were notified about the shooting very quickly and set up a perimeter to look for clues that may lead to the suspect.
"They're meeting with possible witnesses to see if anyone else was in the store," said Lacoursiere, earlier in the day.
Lefebvre’s background is well documented. He was arrested during a drug crackdown on biker gangs more than a decade ago and was imprisoned for gangsterism, drug trafficking and conspiracy to commit murder.
According to Urgences-Sante, the victim was shot twice in the head, and though conscious was bleeding profusely when they arrived.
One woman was also transported to hospital suffering from shock. Urgences-Sante said she was in the office where the shooting occurred and witnessed the event.
“At least one man went into the store. If there are more suspects, that remains to be seen, but we're talking at least one suspect,” said Lacoursiere.
