Investigators from Montreal’s major crimes unit are trying to piece together what happened to leave a 20-year-old man dead early Saturday.

Police received calls around 12:40 a.m. for shots fired at the corner of Louvain St. and 13th Ave. in St. Michel.

When they arrived they found the man, who had been shot at least once in the upper body and was covered in blood. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made. This is the sixth shooting and the second fatal shooting to happen in the Montreal area this week.

Police had linked shootings from earlier in the week to street gang activity, but it is unclear if Saturday’s shooting also falls into that category.
