About 70 firefighters rushed to a vacant building on Sherbrooke East between Moreau and Place de Lery Wednesday at about 12:40 a.m. to battle a fire at a vacant building.
The fire was first spotted by the local Chief of Operations, who happened to be passing by when he noticed smoke emanating from the structure.
Although the fire was fierce, nobody was injured in the battle against the blaze at the building which had sat empty for about three years,
Sherbrooke E. remained closed to traffic between Montgomery and Prefontaine as a result of the fire early Wednesday morning.
No cause has been determined.
A front loader remained on site Wednesday morning tasked with the demolition of what remained of the structure, which was to be knocked down for reasons of safety.
