A car fire spread to a house in Chambly, badly damaging both but causing no injuries.

The fire broke out in a pickup truck at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday under what firefighters say are suspicious circumstances.

The truck was parked in a driveway at 1087 Doody St. and it did not take long for the flames to spread to the house and cause significant damage.

The lone occupant of the house, a man in his 50s who has some physical disabilities, was able to escape without being injured.

Some people at the scene said the small bungalow could not be repaired.

Police would not confirm if the vehicle had been set on fire with a Molotov cocktail or if its owner had been subject to threats.
