After jumping out to a quick start Saturday, Montreal's Eugenie Bouchard. 20, ended up at the short end of a 1-6, 6-3- 7-5 score against Andrea Petkovic of Germany in the semi-finals of the Family Circle Cup in Charleston, S.C.

Bouchard breezed through the first set in just over half an hour, hitting 70 percent on her first serves and breaking on all three of her chances.

She ran into some difficulty in the second set, as Bouchard served only at 63 percent and won only 62 percent of those tries as was broken twice and was unable to score on any of her four break opportunities.

Bouchard finally broke Petkovic on her fifth try in the third set, and took a 3-2 lead. Bouchard then held to go up 4-2 but then Petkovic scored a break on just her second break opportunity of the set to even things back up.

Petkovic held and fought hard for another break but Bouchard managed to hold her off to get to 5-5.

However Petkovic dominated thereafter, holding at love and then breaking Bouchard at love while up 6-5 to take the match.
