MONTREAL—Residents of a Gay Village apartment building were evacuated into the cold of Sunday night after drugs and a stick of dynamite were found by Montreal police.

According to police spokesman Daniel Richer, the SWAT team was deployed just after 9:30 p.m. on Sunday when the SPVM was called to an apartment at de Maisonneuve Blvd. and Panet St.

The discovery of dynamite slowed police, who weren’t able to remove the explosive and allow residents to return before 5:00 a.m.

Three people were inside the apartment at the time, including two men aged 22 and 28, and one 25-year-old woman. All three were known to police. They will meet with SPVM investigators later Monday.
