MONTREAL - Work at three large construction sites in the Turcot interchange, suspended due to high concentrations of asbestos, should be back to normal in a few days, according to a Workers' Health and Safety Board (CSST) representative.
The CSST has a zero tolerance policy on asbestos and does all it can to keep workers from exposure to the toxic construction material, according to representative Fanny Geoffrion.
Soil will be analyzed at the three sites, but work elsewhere in the Turcot interchange is continuing as normal, as no other excavations are being undertaken that could raise the risk exposure to asbestos.
The affected construction sites are: an area where a new ramp is being built to link highways 15 and 20, the heat exchanger on Pullman and finally, Carillon between Pullman and Notre Dame.
