Montreal police arrested three people and are recommending charges of assault after a protest against fiscal restraint devolved into a scuffle on Tuesday afternoon.
Demonstrators tried to make their way into an office building while holding a rally near the Queen Elizabeth Hotel, but were prevented by police officers.
When one man was arrested for wearing a mask several protesters fought police, resulting in three people being arrested for assault.
In addition to the three arrests for assault about 30 people were detained in what police are calling a "preventive" measure. They will be released Tuesday afternoon without charges.
