As the holiday season draws to a close, many municipalities are asking citizens to dispose of Christmas trees ecologically.
Montrealers are asked to strip their trees of decorations and place them on the curb in front of their homes on the days of special Christmas tree collection.
Tree disposal is separate from household waste removal. A section of City of Montreal’s website allows citizens to type in their postal codes for precise information on collection dates and times when the trees may be placed outside.
Citizens can also call 311 for that information.
Trees may also be deposited any time at Eco-Centres.
Every year some 25,000 Christmas trees in Montreal are transported to Saint-Michel Environmental Complex to be chipped.
