MONTREAL - A driver with the Montreal Transit Corp. slammed a city bus into two hydro poles Saturday morning, leaving eleven people injured.

The driver appears to have lost control of the 187 bus at about 8:15 a.m. on Sherbrooke St. between Gamble and Durocher Aves. in the east end.

Seventeen people were on the bus at the time of the incident; eleven were taken to hospital.

The injuries were not serious, said Montreal police Const. Anie Lemieux.

"They've got relatively minor injuries, but were taken to hospital as a precaution," said Lemieux.

The driver was also taken to hospital.

Sherbrooke St. is closed in both directions as collision investigators inspect the scene.
