MONTREAL—Two men in their 50s are facing charges of armed robbery on Saturday after the pair stole from a pharmacy in St-Leonard and led police into a standoff that lasted hours.
At around 9:20 a.m. the men entered a Jarry St. pharmacy near the corner of Viau St. and robbed the store at knife point.
While the men fled, police located their getaway car a short distance away and surrounded a duplex on Marechal Ney St. Some nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution, as the men could have been armed.
With the police SWAT team leading the way, the two men were arrested five hours after the standoff started, at around 3 p.m.
Both men are known to police and were intoxicated at the time of their arrest.
