GLASGOW - Canada's Catharine Pendrel has captured gold in the women's mountain bike at the Commonwealth Games.
The 33-year-old from Kamloops, B.C., took the lead on the first of six laps at Cathkin Braes Country Park, and never looked back, winning in one minute 39.29 seconds.
Emily Batty of Brooklin, Ont., won the silver, a minute 10 seconds back.
Rebecca Henderson of Australia won the bronze.
Canadian women have now won all three Commonwealth Games mountain bike gold medals since the sport was introduced in 2002. There was no mountain bike four years ago at the Games in New Delhi, India.
Pendrel is the reigning world champion, and won gold at the 2007 Pan American Games.
