Olymel is laying off almost all the managers and administrative staff at its slaughterhouse and butchering plant at Vallee-Jonction, Que., due to a strike by workers at the operation.
The company says some 50 non-union employees have been told they are no longer required at the plant starting March 30.
The move comes after workers rejected the company's latest offer.
When the hog slaughterhouse, butchering and boning facility was operating, it employed more than 1,000 employees working on two shifts.
Olymel has operations in Ontario, Alberta, New Brunswick and Saskatchewan.
