MONTREAL—A jeweler was attacked in his Old Longueuil apartment just after midnight on Tuesday, one of the man’s regular clients is suspected.
The armed assault took place at 575 St-Jean St. at 12:45 a.m. in the man’s home, housed in the same building as where he trades in coins and jewels.
According to the victim, one of his regular clients came over with the intention to sell something. The male suspect was escorted by another man and a woman.
The victim, a man in his 50s, let them into the apartment. The suspects attacked him and hit him in the head with a gun.
The suspects stole jewelry, not in a large amount according to Longueuil police constable Martin Simard, and then fled.
The victim was sent to hospital for stitches to his head but is stable, he is cooperating with police.
Because police know the identity of one of the suspects, they hope to track them down quickly.
