The two suspects in the city's latest murder have been released after meeting with investigators from the major crimes unit.
The men, aged 34 and 29 years old, are not being charged at this time.
The pair were quickly arrested on Tuesday following the murder of a man reportedly identified as Gaetan Gosselin, the right-hand man for suspected mobster Raynald Desjardins.
Analysts say Desjardins once had ties to the Rizzuto clan, but tried to gain control of organized crime in Montreal.
Desjardins is currently accused of the murder of Salvatore Montagna who was a boss with the Bonnano family.
Police left the pair in the lockup for about 24 hours before questioning them, and at this point have decided to release them.
Officers will not say if they are recommending charges.
