MONTREAL—A police officer was slightly injured on Wednesday morning during a hit-and-run on Ile-des-Soeur while attempting to pull over a speeding orange racing motorcycle.

The police officer was riding a bicycle and had stopped the motorcycle on Grande-Allee when the driver sped off, sideswiping the officer.

According to Const. Raphael Bergeron to driver fled the scene to “avoid a ticket.”

Police set up a picket around the island suburb to stop the speeding motorcycle, but it is possible the driver was able to flee. Police will continue to investigate.
