MONTREAL - Lino Zambito is done testifying at the Charbonneau Commission but is continuing his campaign to shed light on corruption in the construction industry, as he started a string of media appearances by appearing on the Radio Canada interview program Tout le Monde en Parle Sunday evening.

Zambito said little that he had not previously stated, but he emphatically asserted that about 80 percent of public servants are honest and were not even aware of the various kickbacks and bid-rigging that he shed light on in his three weeks of testimony.

In one question, host Guy A. Lepage asked Zambito whether he considers the prison release of reputed Montreal mob leader Vito Rizzuto to be “bad news.”

However Zambito declined to speculate on whether Rizzuto might have been displeased by his damning testimony concerning Mafia bid rigging.

Zambito also said that he did not know whether Montreal Mayor Gerald Tremblay was aware of some of the shady goings-on at city hall.

Zambito remained on air during an interview with former Bourassa Liberal Labour Minister Jean Cournoyer, who appeared unimpressed by Zambito and some slightly tense moments ensued.

Zambito has been doing more interviews with local French-language Montreal media outlets Monday.
