Patients at the Douglas Institute in Verdun were forced to evacuate via underground tunnels Sunday evening after a patient set fire to three common areas in the mental health facility.
The fires were started in bins full of paper at 7 p.m. About 40 firefighters were able to quell the flames by 8:30 p.m.
No one was injured.
The man was arrested by Montreal police.
