A late-night fire burned through a mansion in Brossard, at 3800 Lisbonne St., near the Dix 30 shopping mall Wednesday night.
The fire started around 9:30 p.m. at the back of the house and quickly grew out of control. The family living inside the home was able to evacuate safely before it was engulfed by flames.
The million-dollar home was completely destroyed.
50 firefighters were called to the scene to battle the blaze. A 400-litre propane tank located on the property was of major concern -- firefighters continuously hosed it down to prevent it from exploding.
It took two hours to extinguish the flames. One firefighter was injured at the scene.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
