The Globe and Mail is reporting that Guy Laliberté has struck a deal to sell his controlling interest in the Cirque du Soleil.
TPG Capital, as well Fosun Capital of Shanghai China and the Quebec government's Caisse de Depot are all part of the deal, according to the unconfirmed report.
The Cirque fetched less than the $2 billion that Laliberté had been seeking, according to the report.
On March 23 Laliberté announced his desire to sell 90 percent of the company he founded in 1984.
Quebec politicians expressed the importance of keeping the Cirque and its 1,600 jobs in the Montreal area.
