The Captain of the Pacific division for the NHL All-Star will get to play again in the NHL.

Enforcer John Scott scored twice during the NHL's All-Star Game 3-on-3 tournament and was named MVP by fans after captaining the Pacific Division to a 1-0 win in the championship.

Scott was traded to the Canadiens in January and immediately sent to their AHL farm team.

The trade and demotion of the fan favourite caused an outcry.

Now, with the Canadiens out of the playoff race, the team has decided to bring John Scott up to the NHL for one game.

Scott, whose excitement practicing on the ice was palpable, said he appreciated the opportunity.

“I don't think anyone owes me anything. I think I have done pretty well considering how all things turned out. This is just them doing me a solid favour. And I would love to play here and I appreciate everything they're doing for me here right now,” he said, adding that he isn’t sure what to expect from fans Tuesday night.

“Hopefully good. Montreal is a smart fan base… I hope it's good considering the stuff I have gone through. I hope it's good, but you never know,” he said.

Scott will play with the Canadiens Tuesday night against the Panthers, then return to the AHL for the last few games of the season.

"He reacted like a pro. We want to thank him," said coach Michel Therrien. "We wanted to give him a chance to play."

Scott hopes he can play a 9th season in  the NHL next year.

Meanwhile the Canadiens confirmed that newly acquired backup goalie Charlie Lindgren will play for the Habs, either on Thursday or on their final game of the season on Saturday.
