An infant was taken to Ste. Justine Hospital as a precaution after a fire in Montreal early Monday morning.
The blaze started at 1:30 a.m. on the first floor of a three-storey building in the Villeray – St. Michel – Park Extension borough.
Six fire trucks and 35 firefighters were on scene of the first-alarm fire.
Eight people were evacuated but were able to return to their homes after the fire was extinguished.
The infant was taken to hospital as a preventative measure due to smoke inhalation.
The fire department says the cause is electrical and they believe sewing equipment sparked the blaze.
