Montreal’s caleche horses have been ordered off the road.
The mayor’s office confirmed that as of 1 p.m., the horses shouldn’t be out working due to the extreme heat.
As of 2 p.m., the temperature at Trudeau Airport in Dorval was 30C, 39C with the humidity.
The SPCA announced last week it created a petition to stop the practice of horse-drawn carriages altogether.
Earlier this month, a report written by veterinarians and release by the city stated Montreal’s caleche horses are healthier than they’ve ever been.
