Rumours of a midnight truce between Hamas and Israel came and went, before news came down during the lunch hour that a ceasefire would be in place by Wednesday evening.
Nicolas Sayegh of the Canadian Palestinian Foundation of Quebec said he hopes the ceasefire will work, but he does not think that it addresses the real problem.
"Why should we blame one side and leave the other side?" asked Sayegh "I think the Palestinians in Gaza, they call them terrorists. I don't, not because I'm a Palestinian or a Christian or whatever. I think they are freedom fighters. They are fighting for their survival."
