Fire destroyed a home overnight in Ste. Therese, leaving a couple homeless.
The fire began shortly after 2 a.m. at 931 Gendron St. in the two-storey home.
By the time firefighters arrived, the flames had already spread to the roof, and the flames were so fierce crews from Blainville and Boisbriand were asked to help.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries in the battle to control the flames.
The two people living in the house got out safely, but will not be able to return.
Another fire broke out at 5:15 a.m. Thursday in Montreal's Cartierville neighbourhood.
Fire ripped through the semi-detached building on Etienne-Parent St., heavily damaging the home on one side of the firewall.
Crews were able to control the flames, but the water caused substantial damage to the adjoining home.
One man in his 80s was taken to hospital with first-degree burns to his upper body. Three other people were not hurt.
The cause of both fires is not known.
