An escaped murderer is back behind bars after being apprehended in downtown Montreal Tuesday at 1 a.m.
Raymond Rouette, 51, had been incarcerated at the Ste-Anne-des-Plaines minimum security prison in Laval before escaping custody on Thursday January 31 at 7:30 p.m. following a rehabilitation meeting near the Sauve metro station.
Rouette, who is not considered dangerous, killed his father with a shovel in Trois-Rivieres in 1987 before surrendering to police.
He pleaded not guilty but was eventually convicted and sentenced to life in prison in February 1988.
He will be transferred to a federal medium security facility.
