Marco Di Vaio is leaving the Montreal Impact at the end of this season.

Di Vaio said it will be tough for him to leave, but his home and family in Italy beckon.

The arrival of fellow designated player Ignacio Piatti, and his instant chemistry with Di Vaio, raised the prospect of the the 38-year-old staying put for at least another year, but it's not to be.

He was was the tenth-highest paid player in the MLS earning $2,600,000.

In his three seasons with the Impact Di Vaio scored 31 goals, making him the team's leader in scoring.

There are still five games left in the season, so Di Vaio's final home games will be on Oct. 11 and 25 at Saputo Stadium.
