MONTREAL--The funeral services for reputed mobster Joe Di Maulo will take place Wednesday morning at Montreal's Notre Dame du Mont Carmel church.
Viewings for family and friends of the 70-year-old begin Monday at the Magnus Poirier funeral complex on Sherbrooke St. East.
Di Maulo was assassinated on Nov. 4 in the driveway of his Blainville home. He had gone outside when he was shot twice.
He was considered the number two man in control of the Montreal mafia, running operations while Vito Rizzuto was in a U.S. prison serving time for murder. Di Maulo's brother-in-law is Raynald Desjardins, another man with strong connections to the mob.
Desjardins was arrested and charged 11 months ago for the murder of Salvatore "The Iron Worker" Montagna, a boss with the Bonanno crime family deported from the U.S. in 2009.
