A tree farm has donated 47 Christmas trees to commemorate the victims killed in the Lac-Megantic disaster.

Daniel Robert of "Plantations Robert" came up with the idea to donate and plant the trees, one for each person who died that night, in front of the St. Agnes Church.

Robert owns a tree farm in Lac-Drolet with his son Alain.

Five local companies came together to donate lights for the trees, which will be lit this Saturday at 5 p.m. following evening mass.

Several people volunteered their time to plant and decorate the trees, including Yvan Fontaine, whose grand-nephew died.

On July 6, 2013, a runaway train carrying a load of crude oil crashed in the middle of Lac-Megantic at 1:15 a.m., destroying half of the building's in the town's core. It is the fourth deadliest rail disaster in Canadian history.
