MONTREAL - A driver had the shock of his life when his compact car was hit and badly damaged by an 18-wheel snow removal truck at the corner of Papineau and Viger Thursday afternoon at 2:10 p.m.

One witness told CTV Montreal that the truck driver, who is subcontracted to clear snow by the City of Montreal, appeared to have gone through the intersection just after the light turned red.

The driver of the small car was not seriously injured in the crash and was sent to hospital with minor injuries.

The truck driver was treated for shock.

The intersection was briefly closed to traffic following the accident.
