The annual Canada Day parade will wend its way down Ste. Catherine St. next Tuesday, beginning as always at Fort St. at 11 a.m.
This year the parade will end at Phillips Square, the new endpoint necessary because of construction at Place du Canada.
Once the parade ends a large Canada Day cake will be served to the first 2,500 people, certainly not enough to go around for the expected 100,000 parade watchers.
The festivities will continue throughout the afternoon with dance and singing performances and inflatable games for children.
For those who prefer to celebrate near the water, a military band will hoist the Maple Leaf in the Old Port, which will be followed by a 21-gun salute at noon.
Events geared toward families will take place throughout the afternoon, culminating in a series of concerts from 8:30 p.m. until a fireworks blasts the skies at 10:15 p.m.
