Canadiens’ forward Brandon Prust won’t be suiting up for any of the team's 11 remaining regular season games, the team announced Friday, as the rugged forward recuperates from an upper body injury that he aggravated Tuesday against the Colorado Avalanche.
The team said that it will reevaluate his condition once the playoffs start in mid-April.
Prust, 30, was in noticeable pain after taking a bodycheck along the boards in the first period but continued on and notched a goal and an assist later in the 6-3 victory.
He skipped Thursday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Prust has six goals and seven assists in 52 games and has fought 11 times this season. He missed 11 games earlier this season with a shoulder injury.
In practice Friday, Alex Galchenyuk was trying his hand centre, the position he played before turning pro. He had Rene Bourque and Brian Gionta on his wings.
Lars Eller was practicing on the fourth line with Dale Weise and Travis Moen in preparation for the Habs’ showdown with the Maple Leafs Saturday at the Bell Centre.
