Controversial Imam Adil Charkaoui could be facing charges after being arrested on Friday in connection to an alleged assault on Feb. 21.
According to a La Presse report, the arrest was connected to an event at the school where a group of men had rented a gymnasium to play soccer.
At some point, an altercation erupted between Charkaoui and the security guard, who called police.
Charkaoui took to Twitter to call the La Presse reports inaccurate, but did not deny being arrested.

It is not the first brush with the law for Charkaoui, who was held under a security certificate for six years for suspicion of aiding terrorism. In February 2015, his contract with College de Maisonneuve to rent space in which to give weekend Arabic classes was suspended after one of his students was identified as attempting to join a Jihadi group in the Middle East. The suspension was later lifted. College de Rosemont, another school in which Charkaoui rented space, severed its relationship with the cleric in April 2015 over the same incident.
